📱 An application to report sightings of ibexes during your hikes!Are you hiking in the Pyrenees and observe a silhouette with large curved horns? It’s probably an ibex!Neither one, nor two, take out your smartphone to participate in monitoring the species reintroduced in the French Pyrenees in 2014.📷 How to report a sighting?By allowing geolocation on your smartphone, the home map automatically displays your location in real time. By validating your position, you launch the report form.Enter the day and time of your observation, then describe the animal observed. For more details, you can even send us photos of your observation!The form ends with your comment and your contact details, useful for contacting you in case of questions... or to simply keep you informed of the usefulness of your observation 😊What is the app for ❓The Ibex Pyrenees application is mainly used to transmit your observations of ibexes in the Pyrenees.These reports represent very useful data for monitoring the evolution of the species in the Pyrenees.Thanks to your observations, the team in charge of monitoring the Ibex in the Pyrenees can analyze the state of health of the populations reintroduced into the French Pyrenees since 2014.The application is a continuation of the Ibex Reintroduction Plan in the Pyrenees.Initiated by stakeholders in the naturalist community since the 1990s, this program has supported the reintroduction of more than 250 ibexes in France since 2014.These reintroductions have borne fruit: with more than 520 individuals recorded in 2023, the ibex now seems to be back in the Pyrenees.On a French scale, however, the species still remains threatened.In continuation of the Pyrenees Strategy for the Promotion of Biodiversity, the application contributes to the monitoring and knowledge of the species, in a participatory science approach!🙌🏻 It’s up to you!You too can participate in the protection and monitoring of ibexes in the Pyrenees!📲 Download the app and send us your latest observation, in the mountains or at home. ;)
